When HD arrived it came with a bang and people all around came flocking to the stores to see how amazing it made the picture quality and they knew they had to have it. When Blu-ray hit the market it was almost quite the opposite. It seemed to have come out of no where and not many people understood exactly what it was.
But now that they have gotten to understand what it can offer it seems that the battle between the two is becoming bigger. With the advance in technology televisions and gaming consoles (PS3) are able to offer you either HD format or Blu-ray format.
But who is actually winning the war? In Europe it seems that the sales between the two were close. The HD format had broken the 1 million sales point – 73% of them being HD movies.
With that being said we have to take into account the PS3 disc sales for the Blu-ray and all other Blu-ray discs. Combine these two together and Blu-ray format seems to have reached the 21 million point passing HD by …well quite a bit.
Even the Blu-ray movies have become more popular than HD titles. Blu-ray may be more expensive – but its many features (like movie playback) have attracted consumers and they believe that it is worth every penny.
Now these sales were only for Europe. At this time we don’t have any information on how it is doing in the United States or any other part of the world.
