The 2 major auto giants plan to mutually extend their technical insights to develop the eco-friendly batteries for future hybrids. Volkswagen and the Sanyo Electric Company will begin together the mission of developing a lithium-ion car power unit to be added on to its new hybrid units by the year 2012. The declaration comes in a while after Nissan and NEC Corp declared they would be producing lithium-ion batteries in bulk, which are supposed to be more environment or even eco friendly. At present, Sanyo produces nickel-hydrogen battery units which can be revitalized continually and these will influence the fortitude of Volkswagens 1st hybrid cars to be shown out next year. The initiation of a lithium-ion battery however would lend a hand with fuel competence, and would be greatly lighter than its nickel-hydrogen antecedent.
