The rumors of Dell resurrecting its handheld business have been surfacing for quite some time now. Ever since the company hired the former executive VP of Motorola Ron Garriques, they’ve been reorganizing its team for handheld devices. Converse to initial reports of Dell favoring ANDROID, the new Dell handsets are revealed to be based on Windows Mobile platform. Manufacturing industry sources in Taiwan, report that Dell may introduce a joint venture with Foxconn (OEM) to develop the new Windows Mobile devices. Recently Acer obtained Taiwan-based Smartphone market E-Ten. HP too has notable presence in the Windows Mobile device market with their iPAQs. So, if Dell does re-enter the Smartphone segment of the market, it would rather make perfect sense indeed.
