Echostar – one of the largest satellite television providers – decided to split itself into two different companies. Their satellite broadcast service will turn into Dish Network and the fixed satellite company will be given the name EchoStar Holding Company.
Though the company may be branching out the management will not change. Charlie Ergen will remain the chairman and CEO of both companies. EchoStar is also keeping Sling Media – the company that they bought earlier in October for $380 million.
Rumors that AT&T is seriously thinking about buying both EchoStar and Dish Network have been floating around the internet. Whether or not they are true has not been affirmed.
