Google has been working day and night to update its brand new service, Google Maps and giving it a new feature called “My Location”. This new feature will be added onto many of the new phones except for the Apple iPhone. With everything else that can be found on the iPhone you would think it would be a great feature to add and it would be added if it were compatible with the phone.
“My Location” is a great feature that can approximate your exact location. Most electronics with this capability are able to do this with the use of GPS data – but Google Maps uses cellular towers around the area to find out exactly where you are. “It’s not GPS, but it comes pretty close (approximately 1000m close, on average),” said Google. “We’re still in beta, but we’re excited to launch this feature and are constantly working to improve our coverage and accuracy.”
All you need to do to find out where you are is to press the ‘0’ button on your cellphone while you are in the Google Maps application. When it pinpoints where you are it will appear as a blue dot on your map.
