Google is one of the top search engines that people use when fining things on the internet. Do you ever wonder how you could use Google out on the road when you are lost and need directions to get where you are going? The brilliant minds at Gilbarco Veeder-Root (the gasoline pump maker) thought that they could bring the map to the people.
Each pump that they have created have been built with Gilbarco’s Applause media system - an LCD color screen that has internet capability and can provide you access to Google Maps. It makes it easy for you to find where you are going without talking to suspicious strangers.
“Getting directions at the pump is safer than using Internet-enabled devices from the driver’s seat and far more reliable than just asking a stranger,” Kirsten Paust, VP of global retail systems at Gilbarco, said in a statement.
Google Maps can give you all the available listing in the area that you need including restaurants, hotels, and hospitals. They are still waiting for the trial run and once that is done they will be putting them into production. At this time no set date for production has beet set.
