Japan has decided to use their resources to make this Christmas extra special for
everyone by giving the PS2 a makeover. They have heard the cry of many gamers who wish that they could get their hands on a PS3 and if it weren’t for the $500 price tag they would. So they are spicing up the PS2 making it just as good (maybe not better, but good will do) and of course more affordable.
Japan is ready to release the new SCPH-90000 series November 2nd (just in time for Christmas). The new hardware features a power-brick that is inside the console’s shell instead of in the middle of the power cord. It will still have some similarities to the original PS2 – including the same form factor. The best thing about the upgraded PS2 is that the AC adapter will be built right into the console and it will be much lighter – weighing only 720 grams.
We aren’t sure if the rumors that the new and improved PS2 is coming to the U.S. are true or not (cross your fingers) – but if they are than we can expect to see it in early of 2008. The good thing about this is it will hopefully only be $99. The bad thing is it will miss the Christmas rush.
