Windows Home Server is a user-friendly server that was created as an automatic back-up system for Windows XP- and Windows Vista computers. It also includes a Windows Live Internet address from Microsoft – which allows you easier access to the hardware from anywhere over the Web. As if that wasn’t enough it can also keep an eye on the security status of your computer and can stream media to your Xbox 360 console.
We can expect to see the new computer with this system to arrive later this year and into next year. There will be two versions that HP will be selling. The 500-Gbyte model will sell for $599 and the 1-Tbyte model will be selling for $749. HP and Microsoft are confident that a large amount of consumers will be buying their new system because the amount of digital content that is being created by consumers is something that is becoming more and more popular.
With that being said they can still expect some competition. Velocity Micro has been selling a 1-Tbyte device which they call NetMagix HomeServer. HP will get a head start of the other competition as they will start shipping off their home-based server products early next year.
