The TOP500 organization has been tracking and ranking the power of super computers across the globe for about 15 years. The BlueGene/L system is still the world’s fastest supercomputers, appearing first on Top500 Supercomputer sites, which experienced five new entries in the top ten lists. The recent update of IBM system has been considerably expanded, attaining a Linpack benchmark performance of 478.2 teraflops. A teraflop (TFlop/s) equals a trillion computations per second. BlueGene/P computers are also recognized as Jugene, debuted at NO.2 with a performance of 167.3 TFlop/s. BlueGene/P, sister of BlueGene/L is a fresh version and a brand new installation, located at research group Julich, Germany. Likewise, four of IBM computers appeared in the top 10 list. Majority of outstanding computers were built with commodity style.
